This was for a sociology work. It's about Baudrillard and how the fashion affects the individual. The sentence means "We buy things not to own them, but to destroy them." and it was said by Jean Baudrillard.

As we know, fashion (not only in the sense of trends and clothing) has taken over the world. We no longer are just ourselves, but many people at once. Baudrillard talks about the identity loss that the human being has suffered.
